BitLord is a BitTorrent client written in C++ for Microsoft Windows. It is an outdated version of the free BitComet client, modified to include advertisements. BitLord is a powerful, clean, fast, and easy-to-use bittorrent client.

BitLord is a p2p file-sharing program fully compatible with Bittorrent, which is one of the most popular p2p protocol designed for high-speed distribution of 100MB or GB-sized files. BitLord supports simultaneous downloads, download queue, selected downloads in torrent package, fast-resume, chatting, disk cache, speed limits, port mapping, proxy, and IP-filter. Version 1.0 added integrated web browser.

BitLord claims to be “based on the BitComet core”, which seems to imply that it is a fork of BitComet - but in fact it is a near-identical copy modified only to include advertisements. It also replaces BitComet’s list of BitTorrent sites with a search box which only leads to affiliates of BitLord. BitLord has become quite commonly used because many popular BitTorrent sites include advertisements for it.\Although BitLord is adware, it has so far been relatively harmless: BitLord has not been known to install malicious spyware and its only ads are in its toolbars.

No need to install, but install/uninstall packages are provided.

A peer-to-peer (or P2P) computer network relies primarily on the computing power and bandwidth of the participants in the network rather than concentrating it in a relatively low number of servers. P2P networks are typically used for connecting nodes via largely ad hoc connections. Such networks are useful for many purposes. Sharing content files (see file sharing) containing audio, video, data or anything in digital format is very common, and realtime data, such as telephony traffic, is also passed using P2P technology.A pure peer-to-peer network does not have the notion of clients or servers, but only equal peer nodes that simultaneously function as both "clients" and "servers" to the other nodes on the network. This model of network arrangement differs from the client-server model where communication is usually to and from a central server. A typical example for a non peer-to-peer file transfer is an FTP server where the client and server programs are quite distinct, and the clients initiate the download.
