Hispanic Music Producers say downloading not yet a problem
THE norteño songs of Conjunto Agua Azul, complete with the musical genre’s trademark accordion sounds, emit from the Heights-area office of Eberardo Compean, vice president of promotions and sales for Houston-based Ace Records.
While the mainstream music industry has to worry about slumping sales and illegal downloading of its music, Hispanic music producers like Compean are riding a wave of popularity in the U.S.
That’s in part because of the growing Hispanic population, as well as the crossover appeal of artists such as Shakira, Juanes and Enrique Iglesias.
